Our MD Mr. K C Jhanwar’s address - UltraTech’s 200 MTPA Milestone celebration, 17th April, 2026

Good evening all.

We are honoured to have with us today our Chairman, Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, members of the Birla family, our valued channel partners, suppliers, stalwarts from the financial fraternity, distinguished dignitaries, and my colleagues from UltraTech and the Aditya Birla Group—both present here and joining us virtually from across the world. Together, we are gathered to celebrate a defining milestone of UltraTech reaching 200+ million tonnes of cement capacity.

At the outset, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to our Chairman.

Sir, your faith in this team, your belief in the India growth story, your courage to build when the world was uncertain — that is the spirit that made UltraTech what it is today.

We would not be standing here today without your vision, conviction and confidence. And I want to acknowledge, with equal warmth, Ma’am Rajashree ji, whose tireless work in the communities around our plants ensures that UltraTech's growth is measured not just in tonnes, but in lives changed and families supported. Ma’am, you have given UltraTech its conscience.

I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the foundation laid down for our business by an extraordinary leader, our late Chairman Shri Aditya Vikram Birla through his vision and foresight.

Today, as we celebrate this milestone, I believe we are one step closer to the fruition of his dream that India attains a respectable rank among the developed nations.

200+ MTPA is a remarkable achievement, one that belongs to every person who has ever worn the UltraTech badge. Every team member who gave more than was asked. Every channel partner who backed us. Every supplier and service provider who stood with us.

And most importantly everyone who was directly or indirectly involved in making this achievement possible. I wish to speak to you today not just about the milestone itself but more importantly about how we got here, what we built along the way, and about our aspirations for the future.

UltraTech's story is not only about capacity or scale. It is a story of taking bold bets, building enduring partnerships, developing centres of excellence, and building a future-ready business in a responsible manner.

What began in the mid-1980s with a capacity of 1 MTPA has today evolved into UltraTech, a cement powerhouse built on agility, perseverance, and excellence.

The Aditya Birla Group DNA, guided by our Chairman, has always been to look ahead and build for the future.

As I speak today, I am reminded of a couplet Chairman sir narrated in his speech while celebrating the 100 MTPA capacity milestone achievement:

मंजिलें उन्हींकोमिलतीहै, जिनकेसपनोंमेंजानहोतीहै

सिर्फ पंखहोने से कुछ नहीं होता, हौंसलोंसेउड़ानहोतीहै

The essence of this couplet has been the spirit that has guided all efforts in our journey.

The clearest illustration of that is what we did during COVID. At the height of the pandemic, when the entire industry was focused on survival, we took the bold decision to invest more than Rs 5,000 crore on our growth plan.

We did this because we believed in India's long-term growth story. Not as a slogan, but as a conviction we were prepared to back with capital.

That conviction was validated. And it set the course for everything that followed. We never looked back thereafter.

We embarked on wave after wave of organic expansions, combined with strategic mergers and acquisitions.

For us, acquisitions are not about adding capacity numbers. We pursue them only when there is a clear strategic fit and long-term value for the business.

It is our belief that acquisitions are successful only when people integration is done with dignity and inclusion. And transition happens only when product quality meets UltraTech's standard.

Our philosophy is simple and applied consistently: One Company. One Brand. One Quality. Across the country. This has strengthened our brand reputation and yielded us rich dividends.

Our focus on growing cement capacity has always part of a bigger ambition. Our vision is to become ‘The Leader in Building Solutions’.

Towards this vision, we have been driving accelerated growth in our Ready-mix Concrete, UltraTech Building Solutions and Building Products businesses. These are our future growth engines.

This success has strengthened our connection with our consumers. A fact mirrored in the extraordinary trust and brand equity that UltraTech enjoys.

Reinforcing this, Kantar recently ranked UltraTech as the 7th most valuable brand in the country, valuing it at 14.5 billion USD.

Alongside capacity and adjacencies, we have been building something less visible but equally important: Institutional capability.

Project Management. Logistics and Supply Chain. Operations. Finance. Digital & Sustainability. These are not departments. They are centres of excellence that deliver compounding returns over time and give UltraTech a durable advantage.

Our Project Management cell manages 10 to 12 project sites simultaneously, delivering many of them ahead of schedule, creating global benchmarks on project execution.

But what makes project execution work at UltraTech special is not only about speed or scale.

• It is all about creating a holistic eco-system taking all stakeholders together.
• It is about the quality of relationships and partnerships we have built with our business associates.
• It is about the commitment of our highly empowered teams. And It is the quality of thinking that happens before a single shovel of earth is turned.

Two lines perfectly captures this approach of Team UltraTech:

आज की मेहनत ही कल की पहचान लिखती है,

खामोश कोशिश ही असली उड़ान लिखती है।

Such is the commitment and dedication of our teams. And I am deeply proud of every single member of Team UltraTech.

Friends, I have been in this industry long enough to know that cement is invisible to most people. But it is there, in every wall, every column, every floor. Cement is the invisible force behind visible progress. That is the nature of nation building. You are rarely at the front of the photograph. But without what you do, the photograph does not exist. UltraTech is proud to be that foundation.

India has declared its intention to become a developed nation by 2047. That is over 20 years of sustained infrastructure building at a scale and pace this country has not attempted before. Roads, ports, airports, housing, urban connectivity. UltraTech will be present across every one of those missions, at the scale the nation demands.

We live by a simple belief: Banega Toh Badhega India. We have been there to build it and we will continue to partner in India’s development journey.

Before I conclude, I wish to express my gratitude to my team. I am blessed to have committed and passionate senior colleagues like Raj, Vivek, Atul and Shekhar. Equally, I would like to acknowledge the significant contribution of UltraTech corporate function heads, manufacturing cluster heads, Sales & Marketing zonal heads, and our colleagues across the organisation – all of whose untiring efforts have brought us to this historic milestone today.

I joined this organisation when we were laying the foundation for our very first cement plant. From joining as a management trainee to becoming the Managing Director, my journey at the Aditya Birla Group has been a deeply fulfilling and enriching one. I wish to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the Group in helping to shape me professionally and making me worthy of the responsibilities I have been vested with over the years. My success is not an exception but the norm at ABG. I am just one among many colleagues across the group who share this experience.

The Group’s ethos has always been to take early bets on young professionals and help shape their careers. This is an ethos that permeates UltraTech, as a distinguished member of the Aditya Birla Group.

In many ways, we are not just a cement company. We are the enablers of dreams for over a billion people. We are partners to India's growth story.

I close with the words that have captured for me, what UltraTech truly stands for:

छोटे क़दम भी लंबा सफ़र तय कर जाते हैं,

लगातार चलने वाले ही इतिहास बनाते हैं।

The 200+ million tonne milestone we are celebrating today, and the many yet to come, are the result of this belief.

I wish to once again express my gratitude to our Chairman, to Team UltraTech and to all stakeholders who have walked every step of this journey with us, and to every person in this room whose work, dedication, and belief is embedded in this historic milestone.
