UltraTech wins two Gold awards at 55th CII National Kaizen Competition

Kukurdih Cement Works, UltraTech’s integrated manufacturing unit in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, Chhattisgarh, won two gold awards at the 55^th CII National Kaizen Competition, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Institute of Quality in Bengaluru on 10^th – 11^th March 2026.

The unit team won the Gold award in the Innovation Category for its Kaizen initiative titled ‘Reduction in PPF (Pyrolysis Oil) Consumption during Kiln Light up’. The project focused on optimising fuel usage during kiln start up, resulting in improved kiln start up efficiency and significant reduction in fuel consumption.

The team also received the Gold award in the Restoration category for its initiative on ‘Water Saving in Demineralisation (DM ) Plant during Water Ultrafiltration Process’, which helped boost system efficiency by reusing reject water from existing processes, reducing water loss and lowering treatment costs.
