Centre to impart training in modern construction technologies; Virtual Reality (VR) Corner to provide hands-on learning experience.
Indore, October 15, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening industry-academia collaboration and promoting skill development in the construction and infrastructure sectors, the Department of Civil Engineering, Acropolis Institute of Technology and Research (AITR), Indore, in partnership with UltraTech Cement Limited, an Aditya Birla Group company and India’s leading cement and ready-mix concrete company, inaugurated the UltraTech Centre of Excellence & Skill Honing Academy located within the AITR campus.
The UltraTech Centre of Excellence & Skill Honing Academy aims to equip students with modern construction technologies, innovative building materials, and technical skills aligned with the evolving requirements of the construction industry. The Centre will serve as an important platform to bridge the gap between classroom education and the practical requirements of the industry. It will impart practical training to students, faculty members, industry professionals, contractors, applicators, builders, and skilled and unskilled workers on modern construction materials, sustainable building practices, and emerging construction technologies.
A key highlight of the state-of-the-art Centre will be its Virtual Reality (VR) Corner, which will enable students to experience modern construction techniques, products, and processes through technology-based learning. The Centre will also organise technical workshops, seminars, conferences, faculty development programmes, guest lectures, internships, and industry-oriented training sessions. These activities will enhance participants' practical knowledge and professional skills while preparing them for industry requirements. Postgraduate and doctoral-level studies, joint research projects, and consultancy services aimed at addressing technical challenges faced by the industry will be encouraged. In addition, specialised value-added courses will be offered in areas such as cement technology, Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC), modern construction materials, building products, and innovative construction solutions.
By bringing academic institutions, industry experts, and aspiring professionals together on a common platform, the Centre is expected to contribute to skill development in the construction and infrastructure sectors and support the nation's growth.
