January 23rd, 2024 : UltraTech Cement’s integrated manufacturing unit, Baga Cement Works, located in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, has helped augment the libraries in five government schools by donating the latest editions of a wide range of study books relevant to the school curriculum. This CSR initiative has benefitted over 800 students in these schools, which are located in remote areas of Bilaspur and Solan districts.
The initiative was taken up after the unit CSR team through an informal local survey found that the students in these schools were struggling due to lack of relevant study material in their school libraries. The team procured the books after consultation with the principals of the schools. The unit team also donated bookcases for the proper display of the books in the libraries to enable easy access for students. This CSR initiative has helped remove a key learning barrier for the local students and has provided a much-needed boost to the academic prospects of the children.
