Two of UltraTech’s grinding units- Panipat Cement Works and Jhajjar Cement Works- have won awards at the prestigious Apex India Green Leaf Awards 2019. The units were recognised for their excellent afforestation initiatives. Panipat Cement Works bagged a ‘Platinum’ Award and Jhajjhar Cement Works was awarded a ‘Gold’ under the Cement sector category.
At a recent ceremony organised by Apex India Foundation, proud team members of the Panipat and Jhajjar units, received the awards on behalf of the organisation.
The award recognizes the two units’ efforts to develop green belts within the plant and their nearby villages. The Panipat unit has planted 15,200 trees so far, while the Jhajjar Unit has planted 12,708 trees.
UltraTech’s Panipat and Jhajjar units have undertaken exemplary measures aimed at water conservation. Initiatives such as development of rain water discharge pits for water harvesting and ponds in the nearby villages were appreciated at the ceremony. A conscious effort to reduce power consumption at these units, is also underway. UltraTech’s two prestigious wins at the Apex India Green Leaf Awards 2019, reflects the company’s commitment to build a sustainable business.
