Roof Vent

A roof vent helps with air circulation and keeps the roof area cool and dry. There are many types of roof vents for different roof types.

What is Roof Vent?

A roof vent is an opening on the roof that allows hot air, smoke, and moisture out of the house. It helps fresh air move inside the roof space. 

When sunlight heats the roof, the air inside the attic or roof space becomes very hot. Without a roof vent, this heat stays trapped. A roof vent allows this hot air to escape and lets cooler air move in.

They are also helpful during rainy or humid weather. They remove moisture from the roof space, helping prevent dampness, bad smells, and damage to the wooden parts of the roof.

Types of Roof Vent

There are different types of roof vents used in buildings:

1. Box Vent

A box vent is a simple square or box-shaped vent placed on the roof. It allows hot air to slowly escape from the roof space. It does not use electricity and works naturally with airflow.

2. Ridge Vent

A ridge vent is placed along the top line of a sloping roof. Since hot air rises upward, this vent helps release heat from the highest point of the roof. It is commonly used in homes with slanted roofs.

3. Turbine Vent

A turbine vent is round and has blades that spin when the wind blows. When the blades rotate, they draw hot air out of the roof space, improving airflow inside the house.

4. Powered Vent

A powered vent uses electricity and a fan to push hot air out of the roof. It is useful in places where natural airflow is not strong enough.
