How to build a basement for your home
During your home construction planning a basement can give you extra space. Let’s understand a few things about building a basement.
First of all, get your home’s plan from an engineer and then star...t the work. Your plot is excavated to a given depth. PCC bed is filled with concrete to one level. Then reinforcement for the basement’s columns is fixed, followed by the formwork. Once the shuttering is filled with concrete, let it set. After that the curing process begins.
The construction of the plinth beam is started after the backfilling. This is followed by the construction of your basement’s walls. Remember, they need to be strong. To prevent water seepage in to the structure through the walls they are plastered with waterproofing plaster before backfilling. Remember, walls need to be waterproofed from inside as well.
All the columns based above the basement are connected from both sides. Don’t forget to plan a proper drainage on the ground level to avoid water accumulation in your basement.
Another important thing, avoid building basement in flood prone areas. These were few things about building a basement.
