Can excavation affect home strength?

August 25, 2020

The excavation of a plot is done before laying the foundation for a home. Foundation transfers the weight of your home’s structure to the strong soil below foundation. If the excavation work is not done in the right way, then the foundation becomes weak, which can cause cracks in walls and pillars.

Here's a few things to keep in mind while excavating.

1. Ensure the layout markings on the plot are proper before excavation begins.

  1. Check that the size, pattern, depth and slope of the excavation pits are even, then pour water on excavation beds and start ramming it with rammers
  2. Fill the extra excavated areas with plum concrete. Ensure that there are no hollow spaces or soft spots
  3. During deep excavations more than 6 feet, it's advisable to support the sides with wooden structures.

These were a few tips on the right excavation process to give your home a strong foundation.
