As the largest cement producer in India, we continuously strive to play a key role in finding effective and responsible ways to preserve the environment. UltraTech is one of the founding members of the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA). GCCA is dedicated to developing and strengthening the sector's contribution to sustainable construction. UltraTech has adopted the TCFD framework this year and have assessed climate-related risk and opportunities according to the recommendations from TCFD. UltraTech has also raised US$ 400 Million sustainability-linked bonds.

UltraTech believes that for a business to be successful, it must fulfill its commitment towards sustainability. In its endeavor to do so, UltraTech's focus has been on sustainable initiatives that address environmental issues, contribute to business performance, and demonstrate responsibility towards the society.

Caring for our planet:

UltraTech is committed to driving sustainability across the value chain of its operations. We have five policies around Sustainability. These policies are Sustainability, Energy & Carbon, Water Stewardship, Biodiversity and Human Rights.

UltraTech has joined EP100, a global leadership initiative bringing together a growing group of energy-smart companies. By becoming a member of EP100, UltraTech has committed to double its energy productivity. Improvement of energy performance is one of the critical levers for UltraTech to reduce the carbon intensity of its operation.

We also believe that a circular economy is one of the most efficient tools towards a zero-waste future. We have a thermal substitution rate of 3.1% where we are using waste materials from other industries as fuel in our kilns. UltraTech uses around 18.36% of alternate raw materials such as fly ash, slag, waste gypsum for cement blending.

UltraTech is committed to sustained reduction in its water footprint. It has been certified to be 3.91 times water positive which has been possible due to our efforts such as rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, groundwater recharge, pond deepening, check dams etc.

UltraTech has installed 148 MW of Waste Heat Recovery Systems (WHRS) and has taken up a Science Based target of reducing its carbon footprint by 27% by 2032 from 2017 levels.

Social Responsibility:

UltraTech is presently working in 502 villages to provide healthcare, education, safe drinking water, sanitation, sustainable livelihood, and income generation opportunities for women while making a difference to the lives of over 2.1 million people.
