Our team created an action plan for implementing the project keeping in mind all the associated loop-holes. This was done deploying a strategy wherein the involvement of the village elders, leaders, parents and the Government Machinery was taken into consideration in order to campaign for the project. The girls students were counseled and encouraged to join school and educational kits consisting of school bags, books and stationery were distributed to them. The larger purpose was to ensure that 80% of the girl students enrolled and attended school regularly by 2010. Our team kept a track of the students registering for formal schooling and compared these figures periodically to check if there were any drop-outs. If drop outs were identified then our team reached out to them to ensure that they enrolled in school again.
The number of female students is now almost equal to that of the male students attending school.
The school building is now being extended to accommodate the additional inflow of children.
The project enjoys good support from the Ministry of Education - Govt. of Gujarat, Govt. Machinery in the District, GCW Management, NGOs and the villagers themselves.
The project is being monitored regularly by the VIKAS team, the Management & the Govt. Authorities.
The awareness programmes for village folk have been stepped up to ensure that all parents encourage schooling for their children especially, daughters.
Education of children irrespective of gender is gradually taking root.
